Brief History Founded in 1962, as University of Ife and renamed Obafemi Awolowo University in May 12, 1987 after a great national leader, this is one of the top Universities in Nigeria. Former students fondly call the school "Great Ife". This University has produced thousands of the high skilled graduates contributing to various professional sectors in Nigeria, UK, USA, Canada and several countries around the world. The University logo says "For learning and Culture" but during those of grueling academic years you could hear grumbling students saying this motto should read "For learning and TORTURE !! |
